Hey,

I'm Sergio Pereira, and this is the Remote Work newsletter 👋

Last week, I wrote about my analysis to 55.000 remote jobs, and the countries that dominate.

This week I continue running queries against the JobsCopilot's database, which this week pulled ~8000 fully remote jobs.

So, today let's dig into these fully remote jobs, those jobs that you can apply from anywhere in the world. These are the ones we all want, right?

I'm analysing job titles, skills, seniority, industry, company type and department. Let's see what these fully remote jobs look like and find patterns:

Most common job titles for remote jobs

I clustered Job Titles, and unsurprisingly Software Engineer came out on top. In fact, 38% of all Fully Remote jobs available are in the realm of software engineering. A total domination over the long tail of job titles available as fully remote, ranging from other tech roles, to marketing, to sales and beyond.

Most demanded skills in remote jobs

Given the domination of Software Engineering on the job titles, it's without surprise that we see almost all the top-20 of highly demanded skills being software development related. Python on top, and then the "usual suspects" Javascript, SQL, AWS, and other popular programming languages, frameworks, cloud providers, etc.

Note that 2 non-software engineering skills make this top-20: Salesforce is the most popular skill for remote sales jobs, and SEO is the most popular skill for remote marketing jobs.

Most common years of experience in remote jobs

I must be honest about the years of experience, I expected to see mostly jobs demanding 10+ years of experience on top, it's a popular belief that only the most experienced people can apply to remote jobs.

The reality is very different though. Most fully remote jobs list either 5, 3 or 2 years of experience. Only less than 4% list 10+ years of experience.

It feels to me that remote companies are less strict about this requirement, because they know they'll get hundreds of applicants and can afford to select the one with the most relevant experience.

Industries hiring the highest number of fully remote jobs

In the analysis by Industry it's also unsurprising that Technology comes on top, with ~42% of all fully remote jobs.

However, I'm learning through the data that the Healthcare sector has a high number of fully remote jobs, with over 6% of the total. Followed by Finance with 5%. It's also interesting to see the long tail touching almost all business areas with some number of fully remote jobs, even if a very small one in most of them.

Most common company types offering fully remote jobs

I had to run this query. Just to not be surprised at all. As a CTO, I've been working with startups for the last 10 years, I know that nowadays startups are remote by default. But it's still impactful to see that 65% of all fully remote jobs are offered by startup companies. And if you think that most startups are small, this means that large thousands of fully remote startups are hiring a few roles each. It's a big long tail, and certainly a challenge to find all those jobs across so many companies.

Also worth noting the irrelevance of Big Tech for fully remote jobs. Indeed, most of those well known companies either returned to the office or have some local remote or hybrid policy around their offices. This is all the buzz we see in the news, and some might believe that remote jobs no longer exist. That's very misleading.

Company departments offering the most fully remote jobs

Finally, in the breakdown by department we see Engineering leading, but Sales and Marketing giving a solid follow.

Seems like if you aren't a tech profile, your best bet at finding a fully remote job is in the sales,  marketing, ops or customer support teams of tech companies, especially startups.

Uff, this was a long one. You can tell I'm very excited to poke into the data I have.

If you read the whole thing up to this point, you deserve a goodie. I queried the JobsCopilot.ai DB and these are the first 5 fully remote jobs that came up, I'll leave them here just for you to apply:

Backend Engineer @ Remote.com ($51,850 to $171,450)

Systems Engineer @ Automattic ($120k-$180k)

Frontend Engineer @ Assured ($180k – $220k)

Web Engineer @ 10up ($90k and $150k)

VP of Engineering @ Minware ($210k—$250k)

Of course you can't manually find and apply to all those 8k+ fully remote jobs, and that's why you might want to try JobsCopilot.AI. What started as a fun personal project is now a fully fledged copilot, ready to finally fulfil the vision of "Getting job interviews booked, while you sleep".

All features are now fully available to everyone, you can simply access them at JobsCopilot.ai, select your plan and enjoy the product. There isn't any free trial, but I have a 7-day refund policy, just in case it disappoints you.

This is what you can expect inside the Premium plan of JobsCopilot:

1/ Your auto-application profile

Once you switch to the Premium plan, you'll be prompted to fill in a profile section with your replies to common demographic questions found in job application forms:

Jobs Copilot auto apply 1

2/ Your auto-apply flow

Besides that initial setup, you'll now find this new button in the jobs card. Just click the "Auto Apply" button on the jobs that are relevant to you, and that will trigger the auto-apply backend flow (no application is sent before your final revision):

Jobs Copilot auto apply 2

3/ Application form is fetched and pre-filled for you

All jobs you've ticked "Auto Apply" are moved to the "Jobs to Apply" tab. And for each of them our backend pulls the application form, and our AI generates replies to each of the form questions based on the job description and your profile. Within a couple minutes you can find the pre-filled job application form in each job card:

Jobs Copilot auto apply 3

4/ One-click confirmation

For now, I'm requiring you to review and click this submit button for every job, as I want you to feel in control of your applications, and I want to capture feedback on quality of this flow. I might make it more automated upon some configs in the future.

Once you submit a job for Auto Apply, the copilot will submit your application in the following minutes/hours (depending on work load). You'll get these messages on your email on a frequent basis, like I'm receiving for the past couple weeks during testing:

Jobs Copilot auto apply 4

I'm very happy for this launch. Developing JobsCopilot under such aggressive bandwidth constraints has been hard work, but I'm thankful for your feedback, and for all positive messages and engagement. You truly are an amazing bunch :)

If you have any issues or questions about JobsCopilot, just drop me a message on jobscopilot@sergiopereira.io, for faster response. I count on your feedback to make this product the best in the market and help us all find great jobs!
